Interfaith Worker Justice

Interfaith Worker Justice (IWJ) is a network of people of faith that calls upon our religious values in order to educate, organize, and mobilize the religious community in the United States on issues and campaigns that will improve wages, benefits, and conditions for workers, and give voice to workers, especially workers in low-wage jobs.

International League of Religious Socialists

We believe that aside from dealing with the issues of globalisation, marginalisation, and human rights, that we have a responsibility to fight against religious fundamentalism as well as the use of religion as a tool of political conservatism.

The ILRS believes that as people of diverse faiths are created equal before their Creator, we must fight for tolerance of religious diversity, and social and economic equality throughout the world. We must fight to elminate poverty and reverse the widening social, cultural, and economic gap between peoples.

Labor-Religion Coalition of New York State

People of faith acting on the command to “do justice” and workers organizing for a voice on the job have a long history of partnership in the U.S. In 1980, a time of plant closings and eroding rights of workers, this shared commitment to economic justice led to the creation of a volunteer association called the Labor-Religion Coalition. It was one of the first such associations in the country.

The Jubilee Network of the Episcopal Church

As the world’s economies decline, we see the need to “feed the hungry, give drink to the thirsty, welcome the stranger, clothe the naked, care for the sick, and visit the imprisoned” (Matthew 25:35) more than ever both locally as well as internationally. Homes and pensions have been lost, and food banks are struggling to keep up with the increasing need. Jubilee Ministry is called to help the church live out its prophetic vision of empowering people to “do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly before their god” (Micah 6:8).

Liberation Theology Online Resource Center and Bookstore

Infuenced by Marxist social theory, Liberation theology consider “structural sin” to be a root cause of poverty and oppression, and consider the primary responsibility of the Church to be its “option for the poor”.
